Bodega Lurton aka Land of Fire aka Tierra del Fuego 2006, White Table Wine

Delicious white wine - strong fruity bouquet with a not-overly-sweet taste and buttery texture.

Bodega Lurton aka Land of Fire aka Tierra del Fuego 2008, Torrontés-Chardonnay

Bodega Lurton has continued to surprise me with its tasty value wines less than half the price of most wines I enjoy drinking.

Bodega Lurton aka Land of Fire aka Tierra del Fuego 2007, Torrontes

For its price, Bodega Lurton's Torrontés is a good value wine. Although sweeter than a typical Torrontés, it still provides the aroma and is refreshing character typical of the varietal.

Estepa 2004, Merlot

Estepa's 2004 Merlot is nothing exciting, but has an intense jammy fruit flavor. Compared to other wines coming out of Argentina, Estepa's Merlot is quite unmemorable.

Ravanal 2006, Carmenére

Chilean Carmenéres certainly have a distinctive flavor, but this 2006 Carmenére is not the best Chile has to offer.

La Yunta 2007, Torrontes

Torrontés is one of the most refreshing middle-of-a-hot-summer-day wines out there.

Montes 2007, Chardonnay

This delightful wine is simple and elegant, a perfect summer value wine from the Colchagua Valley in Chile. The golden elixir balances the typical buttery chardonnay with some nice fruit flavors.

O. Fournier 2006, Torrontes

This tasty varietal is one of the best hot summer day wines possible. While my favorite is from Tomero or Mounier, Urban Uco's Torrontés is a good value and refreshing white.

Gimenez Rilli 2006, Torrontes

For the price, this is a great example of the Argentine Torrontes wine. Reasonably strong aromas with an appropriately sweet mouth. Perfect.

O. Fournier 2005, Malbec-Tempranillo

Wines from O. Fournier rarely disappoint, and their economical Urban line certainly has some quality wines to offer while their higher end Crux blends are some of my special occasion favorites.

Roots: 1 2007, Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine seems to excel more in marketing than winemaking. The sleek bottle has a design of a growing grapevine emphasizing its root system.

Concha y Toro 2007, Chile, economical, large production, Merlot

While Concha y Toro's line Casillero del Diablo has been a hot seller for value wines, this 2007 Reserve Merlot was nothing special: unbalanced and ultimately forgettable.

Andeluna 2006, Torrontes

While I have great memories of visiting Andeluna and drinking their delicious wines, I was disappointed with their 2006 Torrontés.

Diseño 2006, Malbec

For its price, the Diseño Malbec is a good value wine. It is dark and rich, with fruit flavors and a smooth finish.

Jose L. Mounier 2008, Argentina, Cafayate, Torrontes

One of my all-time favorite Torrontés, Mounier is the perfect wine to enjoy on a hot summer day. With rich aromas balanced by a dry smooth finish, it would be tough to find a more refreshing wine.

Bodega Vistalba - Carlos Pulenta Wines 2005, Malbec, Merlot

Once again, Vistalba doesn't disappoint. This wine is soft, smooth and mellow with subtle hints of roble (oak).
